A Horse Named Westley: The Journey That Changed Everything…

A Horse Named Westley: The Journey That Changed Everything…

The love I had for one quirky, sensitive chestnut thoroughbred forever changed my life. His name was Westley.

When we met, I was 17 and ready to conquer my 3 day eventing goals. Westley had a puppy dog personality and incredible talent, but our journey was not what I expected.  We faced challenge after challenge—spookiness, eliminations, even injuries. There were moments when I was advised to give up on him completely.

Instead, I took a leap of faith, dropped out of college, and moved across the country to train with a 5* eventer, hoping to turn things around.  But even with the best plans and training, Westley still struggled in eventing. It became clear we needed a new path. That's when I found equine massage. I began to learn, applying everything I could to help him feel better. It changed everything.

Westley blossomed in our new discipline of dressage, and our bond grew deeper. I realized my true calling was to help other horses find comfort, just like I had helped him.

Westley is the reason I founded my business, Freely Forward Bodywork. Every horse I help is because of him. 💖   Thank you, Westley.
